Based on various commercial and municipal needs, several types of garbage trucks are designed. Today, nearly all cities across the world have stringent rules in terms of recycling the waste matter. Garbage trucks are designed to quickly collect garbage from homes and commercial areas and contain them until they are taken to the dumpyard.
Let’s take a look at the different types of garbage trucks:
Front Loaders
Using a set of levers, front loaders have automated forks in the front to lift and empty large commercial dumpsters. These forks help in lifting the waste container or dumpster over the truck which is turned upside down to empty all the waste or recyclable material into the truck’s hopper. The collected garbage is then compacted by a hydraulically powered moving wall that works to move the waste to the rear of the truck. Usually, front loaders are used to service commercial and industrial businesses. Most newer front load trucks are more efficient enabling the driver to hydraulically pack loads while driving.
Rear Loaders
Rear loaders have a large opening at the back of the vehicle where all the waste material can be collected. Some rear loaders have a lifting mechanism which can lift large carts without the operator having to lift the waste manually. However, there are some rear loader trucks, which require a personnel to toss the waste bags into the truck’s hopper. Like most modern garbage truck systems, the rear loader may have a hydraulic mechanical system to move a wall or shovel, to compact the collected waste.
Roll-off Trucks
Typically, roll-off trucks are used to collect large volumes of waste, which is why they are used at construction and demolition sites. These among the other types of garbage trucks are the most popular trucks for sale. These trucks are used in order to transport dumpsters, commonly used to collect construction waste. On a special roller chassis or a trailer, a dumpster box is placed in which the box is rolled off the truck, left at the site and rolled back onto the truck. In order to literally roll the dumpsters on and off, these dumpsters are loaded and unloaded from Roll-off trucks using wheels.
Side Loaders
Side loaders can be loaded manually or automatically from the side. These trucks usually have an automated side loader with a mechanical arm automated to lift the garbage container and dump the trash into the top front of the truck from the side. The collected trash is then compacted towards the back of the truck.
